It is through the activity of website's visitors, we learned the latest information on the health status of Nickolai. The guy got seriously wounded from a gunshot and was in need of urgent medical intervention. We conducted our own investigation of what really happened near the village of Vygonoschi, Ivatsevichi District, where Nickolai as wounded. The fact is that the various sources described different versions of what happened. To clarify the situation, we contacted justice advisor Igor Kolbik, the prosecutor of Ivatsevichi district, Brest region. By Valentina Kozlovich, "Sovetskaya Belorussia" (The Soviet Belorussia) newspaper There are many villages in the Brest region which was sentenced decades ago as unpromising. However, today they get a chance at rebirth. The State Program of Rural Development with the completion of the agricultural towns involves bringing order to the major villages. In addition, rich countrymen are reviving some of the villages (in particular, in the Brest region). The Public Project "Village which should not disappear" started in the region at the end of the year. This project came up with the associations "Belovezhskaya Pushcha" and "Tour". The village of Kletnoe of Pruzhany District, located on the edge of Belovezhskaya Pushcha, was also revived. December 29, 2010| Shot at point-blank
By Elena Tribuleva, "Vecherniy Brest" (The Evening Brest) newspaper Last week, Nicholai Vorobei, an officer of the Wildlife Sanctuary "Vygonoshchanskoye" and amateur photographer, was seriously wounded for the circumstances not fully clarified. He was literally shot from 10 meters: Nikolai was shot through knees, was damaged joints, veins and tendons, and was shot off the left thumb. The cause of the incident could actually be much deeper. Since then the National Park "Belovezhskaya Pushcha" leased 10,000 hectares of hunting grounds of the Wildlife Sanctuary "Vygonoshchanskoye" in the Ivatsevichi district, conflicts between employees of these bodies have become almost commonplace. The point reached that employees of the Sanctuary sometimes can not get into the forest because the national park set its turnpikes anywhere. By Zmitser Lukashuk, "DATE.BS" A 23-year amateur photographer and employee of the Wildlife Sanctuary "Vygonoshchanskoye" Nicholai Vorobei with a hole in his legs is fighting for his life in the resuscitation department of the capital. He was shot by a huntsman of the Belovezhskaya Pushcha National Park. The police believe that a piece of wood that the National Park "Belovezhskaya Pushcha" and the Wildlife Sanctuary cannot divide among themselves could be the cause of the tragedy. By Natalia Krivets, "Komsomolskaya Pravda" (The Komsomol Truth in Belarus) newspaper More than 150 letters and messages with questions to Belarusian Santa Claus came to our mail. The every second question is about the family: does Santa Claus have a wife and children? There were also other questions – about Snow Maiden and gifts under the Christmas tree. The main winter wizard did not have time to answer all the questions as kids visited him and Father Frost went to show them his estate in Belovezhskaya Pushcha. But he did not satisfy the curiosity of most of our young readers. By Nickolai Nekrashevych, "Ekonomika.by" What images of historical and cultural heritage are used by local companies for promoting their products? It turned out the most popular trademark which focuses on this aspect is Belovezhskaya Pushcha. According to the register of the National Intellectual Property Center, two companies - Kommunarka (pastries) and "Santa Impex Brest" (mineral water and soft drinks) - are the holders of the trademark "Belovezhskaya Pushcha" for the moment to date. By Victor Korbut, "Sovetskaya Belorussia" (The Soviet Belorussia) newspaper Tourists travel to Belarus, so far, mainly from Russia. They are more and more numerous every year. What is attractive about our country? Reading the experiences of travels, I come to this conclusion we have a sort of "second Baltic States", an atrium of Europe with all the attributes - a singular architecture, cuisine, customs, products and prices. Why do tourists come here? How do managers and travel industry professionals explain it? Everyone, who arrives in Belarus, first of all is sent to Minsk. And already from here is leaving in all directions, the Russians in Belovezhskaya Pushcha and "Dudutki" because they are wonders to our unspoiled natural environment and the rural idyll. By Svetlana Yaskewich , "Zvyazda" (The Star) newspaper A bypass is created around Belovezhskaya Pushcha. Two powerful companies from the city of Brest are in the role of general contractors. The total length of the road around the Reserve is about 185 kilometers. By Elena TRIBULEVA, "Vecherniy Brest" (The Evening Brest) newspaper The European Union allocates almost 11 million Euros for modernization of the border checkpoint "Peschatka". The State Customs Committee of Belarus is preparing to sign a grant agreement with the EU to finance the project on reconstruction of the road border checkpoint "Peschatka - Polovtsian" on the Belarusian-Polish border. Another issue that concerns not only the environmental services of Belarus and the European Commission is the impact of the new facility on the environment. "Peschatka" is located in the vicinity of Belovezhskaya Pushcha, while the EU is known to be very great attention to environmental issues. Implementation of the project will not adversely impact on the environment. By Andrei Akimov, "Moskovsky Komsomolets" newspaper On November 13, new rules of hunting and fishing come into force in Belarus. The new document was long-awaited not only by hunters but also by all those who work in this field. The reporter asked the chief of Game Management, Ministry of Forestry of Belarus, Sergei Shestakov to tell more about innovations. The issue of the enclosure captive hunting caused considerable debates. Earlier in the country the enclosure hunting was practiced only in famous Belovezhskaya Pushcha. Now the concept of "enclosure captive hunting" is defined in the Rules. By Elena Spasiuk, "Naviny.by" A strategy for conservation and sustainable use of biological diversity for 2011-2020 was developed in the country. Belarus will implement it with financial support from the Global Environment Found. As reported by Natalia Minchenko, next year in Belarus will start work on accession to the Berne Convention for Protection of Wild Flora and Fauna and Natural Habitats in Europe. In 2012, the process of preparation of proposals for agreements under the Convention on Conservation of Migratory Species of Animals will begin and preparation of proposals for inclusion of Belarus in the Emerald Network. Now the Berezinskiy Biosphere Reserve, national parks "Belovezhskaya Pushcha"," Braslav Lakes", "Narochanskiy" and "Pripyatskiy", 433 reserves of special purposes and 847 natural monuments of the total area of 1,595.6 hectares are parts of this system. About three hundred species of plants and animals vanished in Belarus over the past few decades, and many others are threatened with extinction, Vladimir Tsalko, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Protection, said. By Taras Sipko, "Moskovsky Komsomolets" newspaper Last wild bison remained only in the Bialowieza Forest and in the west of the Caucasus, while wars and social unrests of the early XX century, swept off last voluntary animals from the planet. Earlier this year, regular surveys of bison were carries out in Orel-Kursk-Bryansk area of natural habitat. At the time of surveys the total number of bison in this woodland totaled more than 200. This is a very good figure because currently bison total in the world just over 4 thousand, and almost half of them are now found in captivity. It is clear that European bison make still very small number. In order to save them from the threat of extinction, much efforts are required. December 04, 2010| "Presidential decree on transformation of especially protected natural areas will eliminate the imbalance of nature conservation and recreation"
By Natalia Jurgenson, "Wildlife.by" Today, all national parks of Belarus are the largest economic entities. They conduct various activities: forestry, agriculture, hunting, recreational fishing and recreation. And they are not able always to provide the optimal balance between economic activity and protection of natural systems at the same time - in fact that is for which they are declared. The reason of many problems is hidden in this inconsistency. Let's take the State Nature Protection Establishment "The National Park "Narochanskiy"". Perhaps the problem is resolved after the new president's decree on transformation of protected natural areas will be issued. It is planned that by early 2011 a draft decree will be prepared for the three national parks - "Narochanskiy", "Pripyatskiy", "Braslav Lakes", as well as for the Berezinskiy Biosphere Reserve. A bit later the same document is designed to the National Park "Belovezhskaya Pushcha". December 04, 2010| Descendants of the current elk, deer and wild boar are at risk of becoming a pitiful semblance of their mighty ancestors
Olga Mamchits, "TUT.BY" I heard for the first time from a hunter-amateur that commercial shooting of animals is carries out in hunting reserves adjacent to the territory of the Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve and administratively subordinated to its Directorate. He told complacently about how is profitable to go there to hunt and that he had managed to shoot an elk and a few wild boars, brought home a real trophy. I opened the other side of the hunting tourism directly at the Reserve during a conversation with a senior research associate Alexander Kashtalyan, an expert on mammals. Animals go to where the feed is better. Why are calves not born? Cut down or not? A topical comment. Alexander Kashtalyan believes to save Belarusian bison is necessary to establish the work of scientists on the model of that one which is conducted in the Polish part of Belovezhskaya Pushcha. December 04 , 2010| Do not just make pancakes from Janek...
By Alexander Shevko, "Belorusskaya Niva" (The Belarusian Field) newspaper The development of roadside service will help strengthen the rural business and will create new jobs. The determining factor for construction of such objects is the intensity of traffic. According to the Ministry of Transport, now there are more than 1.6 thousand roadside service points. Any driver has three things of a vital need - eating, sleeping and, excuse me, toilet. In this regard the frontier Brest region is looking favorably. Now a bypass semicircle road is constructed around the Belarusian part of Belovezhskaya Pushcha, on behalf of the President's assignment. It should be put in commission at the end of next year. In first place the local authorities are responsible for all the objects of the roadside infrastructure. By Grigoriy SOKOLOVSKY, "21.BY" Belarusian masters of words had a chance to hear this command together and to see the border guards. A team of Belarusian journalists and writers visited the 16th Grodno frontier group. A road winding among the harvested fields and small towns disappears in the beauty Belovezhskaya Pushcha. In my heart is light and there is yet some excitement. The first thing that caught my eye - it is clean and tidy. The 12-th frontier is one of the best in the Grodno frontier group. November 25, 2010| Hunting as the work
By Fedor Mukha, "Respublika" (The Republic) newspaper, No 226) Foreign hunters help regulate the number of animals in Belovezhskaya Pushcha, simultaneously bringing a considerable income to it. Since coming autumn clients became more numerous, than in summer, in the hotel complex of the National Park "Belovezhskaya Pushcha". Mainly Russian, German, French and Italian hunters accommodate comfortable rooms. The administration of the Park every year expands the practice of attracting foreign visitors to make the obligatory and necessary work - regulation of the number of animals living within the Forest through shooting them. November 17, 2010| "Alexander Lukashenko. Political Portrait." Corruption
By Valery Karbalevich, "DATE.BS" Many supporters of President Lukashenko argue that much of what we can doubt but it is not in his personal integrity and selflessness. He is also actively supporting these illusions, saying that "I am the president of the cleanest in the world." In fact, it is far from the reality. The ownership which not well known in the modern world - the presidential one which is controlled by the Presidential Department of Affairs is a unique feature of the Belarusian state model. Profitable enterprises, import and export of certain goods (for example, exports of timber from the Reserve "Belovezhskaya Pushcha") began to move under control of the President Administration. By Victor Korbut, "Sovetskaya Belorussia" (The Soviet Belorussia) newspaper Crimea is famous not only of beaches and mountains but also of amazing trees. Recently, a public campaign started on the Peninsula. Citizens propose to take account of almost every cypress and juniper. It seems to me that it is time now to look closely attentive to the rare trees. Fir example, a centuries-old oak tree was recent cut down in Beshenkovichi. A legend connects it with Napoleon who reportedly was resting under the shade of the giant. One more legend was cut. Belovezhskaya Pushcha on closer examination also seems not so romantic as it is just some of our "jungle". And only a few old oaks that still remember the wild hunt of princes Vytautas and Jagiello, along with bison, give a mysterious look to the Reserve. About 60 people live in it but there is no free house site within the precincts of the village - all bought up by visitors. However, the placidity of the remote village was rather broken in the spring of 2010, when the Forest and Hunting Game Ground "Vygonoshchanskoye" was abolished, while a new owner of vast woodlands and two lakes "Bobrovichskoe" and "Vygonoshchanskoye" - the State Environmental Establishment "The National Park "Belovezhskaya Pushcha" subordinate to the Department of Affairs of the President of the Republic of Belarus - has appeared. By Elena Tribuleva, "Vecherniy Brest" (The Evening Brest) newspaper There was no such September for a long time as this year's one, generous with mushrooms in our area. If one gets out from home to any wood, so he will not be back with an empty bast-baske. The road section between the villages of Dmitrovichi and Kamenyuki where Belovezhskaya Pushcha's woodland begins has many cars in days off, not simply many but they are as numerous as densely standing along both sides of the road line like in a parking. My colleague succeeded these days off in getting into the Pushcha's area behind the entrance gate where his friends live in one of the Pushcha's small villages. I never saw that our outwardly restrained Alexander was so much filled with emotions. An unprecedented mushroom yield has slightly brought down the commercial demand in the market. "The Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in Russian Federation" It is getting more and more difficult to find the interesting place in Belarus where tourist did not set foot on land. However, despite of their variety, the rather sign routes which could become a visit card of the country will appear only in the next five years. Elena Solovieva, an adviser of the Department of Tourism at the Ministry of Sports and Tourism, has told about what tourist paths will be used in Belarus to serve travelers who are the most experienced with impressions. By Nikolai Sergeev, "Western Russia" In September 1939, there was an event which is one of the most significant milestones in the history of Byelorussia. Thanks to the liberation campaign of Red Army the forcibly parted Byelorussian people again became united. It was the act of great historical validity. That's the indisputable fact but, unfortunately, it is clearly far from being by all. Under "Polish time". According to information from the Second reconnaissance department of the general headquarters of Polish Army, the aggregate number of guerilla warriors operating on the territory of Vilenshchina, Polessie, Nalobokskaya Pushcha, Belovezhskaya Pushcha and Grodnenskaya Pushcha in 1923 made from 5 to 6 thousand soldiers. By Pavel Volosiuk, "Vecherniy Brest" (The Evening Brest) newspaper Last days off we had a rest in Belovezhskaya Pushcha. Our relatives from Denmark – the family with a small child visited us and we decided to show them our glorified reserve in all its greatness. I don't know exactly, our visitors will recollect the trip with the mixed feeling. Pushcha, certainly, is beautiful but we failed to feel the difference between its nature and an ordinary good Belarusian forest. "Pleshchenitsy online" The administrative responsibility not only for manufacturing of moonshine and semi-manufactured products for its production (wash) but also for purchase of such drinks is planned to be establishing in the country. At the same time moonshine officially is not forbidden in Belarus. Moreover, it has an excise tax. It can be produced and sold in four places. September 06, 2010| The hunter's notes
"The Second National TV-channel (ONT)" During last week the topic about hunting was discussed not only at the meeting with the President but also almost in each house where hunters live. Hunting for the majority makes hobby and romanticisms, whereas for the state it is an opportunity to earn. Experts say that hunting in Belarus attracts more and more foreigners. In 2009 this business has brought the clear profit about one and half billions Roubles. But if these half-million dollars is to divide into 255 hunting enterprises, so each of them has received on average only about two thousand dollars. The Polish experience is interesting. The conditions for hunting in many respects are similar with the Belarusian ones. However, there is the difference. For example, let's take Belovezhskaya Pushcha. To copy the Polish experience in the Belarusian part of Belovezhskaya Pushcha, of course, is senseless. Our Pushcha first of all is the unique reserve. By P.V. Multatuli, "White Russia" In days of the anniversary of glorification of the Imperial Family, the next slanderous campaign against Czar was starting in the Internet. We would not begin again to touch this loathsome slander, especially in days of the great and bright anniversary of glorification of holy Kingly Martyrs, but there are two moments. Hunting during the times of Emperors Alexander III and Nikolai II basically took place in the village of Bialowieza and in vicinities of Peterhof. The photo shows Emperor Nikolai II during the hunting in Belovezhskaya Pushcha. Summing up the next slander against Emperor of Nikolai II, it is necessary to notice that this slander has accepted a new direction. The first ranch in Belarus was tested in the National Park "Belovezhskaya Pushcha". As early as in 2000 a patch of forest of length of 33 kilometers was fenced with a metal grid in the Shereshevo forest area which was joined to the Belovezhskaya Pushcha's territory. Shooting for animals - wild boars, deer and even bison - is permitted there. It is difficult to approve these animals are ill or healthy. The Department of Affairs of the President of Belarus is a body which goes in its own way. Its officials, called by ordinary people "presidential stewards", control the most profitable branches of the economy and transfer millions of dollars from profit-making sub-organizations. What are parts of this huge empire which is under personal control of head of state? According the official estimate, 80 organizations have the sounded appendix to the own title which specifies the owner - "The Department of Affairs of the President of Belarus". Presidential national parks are among them. All these unique natural objects were taken under the Department's control in mid 90-s. Corruption is thriving in these parks. A melancholic girl did not want to prepare the fresh dish and she politely has sent us to enjoy views of Pushcha in hope that we will not come back any more. We have followed this idea. July 09, 2010| The Belarus' Bird Life organization has lunched the "Conserve birds of prey!" action
Website "TUT.BY" The non-governmental organization "Belarus' Bird Life" has started the next project on conservation of rare birds. Feathery predators including such charming species as white-tailed eagle and some owls got the chance this time. Dense local forests helped inhabitants of these places survive within the hard times when prosecution of birds of prey was expended everywhere in Belarus. Especially active struggle against them was carried out in Belovezhskaya Pushcha which had the status of State Protected Game Ground then, and in its branch-ground – Vygonodhchanskoe Forest and Hunting Enterprise. Hundreds of birds of prey were annually killed with the purpose of preservation of game for high-ranking hunters. The total war has resulted in almost utter annihilation of winged giants in these woods. The monitoring works started in Belarus are necessary for better protection of rare species of birds. By Anna Zhukova, "Moskovskiy Komsomoletz" (The Moscow Komsomol Member) newspaper, No 25390 The Russian Tsar Nikolai II has given a surprise almost in 80 years after his death. It doubts that the Tsar Nikolai was a staunch defender of the evolution theory developed by Charles Darwin. Nevertheless, a whole store of rarities directly related to the life of the last Russian Tsar has been found out in the State Darwin Museum. In all 128 objects – horns of roe deer, red deer, elk and bison – were counted in the hunting collection. It was possible to determine who and when (a year) extracted each of the found trophies. Many facts specify that the most part of the collection is brought here from a former imperial residence in Belovezhskaya Pushcha, a favourite place of hunting of the representatives of the House of Romanovs. However, it should still be specified whether it is actually true or not. If to follow records in a diary, Nikolai II hunted the last time in his life near Ropsha on March 9, 1914. By Elena Tribuleva, "Vecherniy Brest" (The Evening Brest) newspaper The governmental program on reconstruction and repair of all reclamation constrictions and maintenance of the hydrological regime on grounds of the Nature Protection Establishment "The National Park "Belovezhskaya Pushcha" and in its Buffer Zone for 2011 and 2012 is only developed but "many lances" over it is already broken. Until now there is no answer for the main question – what effect on the ecosystem of Belovezhskaya Pushcha will be brought from land-reclamation works. There are a word "against" and a word "for". Today both parties say that no one wants to do harm to the environment of Belovezhskaya Pushcha. However, restoration of the land-reclamation constrictions in the Pushcha's Buffer Zone, as a matter of fact, has already been started, while no any serious scientific substantiation of the project has been made. By Arina Bobrova, Website "The Near-Moscow News Agency" The Prioksko-Terrasniy Reserve, a pride of the Southern Part of the Moscow Region, has celebrated its 65th anniversary on June 19. A bison nursery has made the Reserve worldwide famous as a refuge of the unique big mammals almost extinct on the territory of Europe. On June 10 the international conference was held in the Reserve. There were many people there, both from Europe and America. The discussed topic was very remarkable – our countryman from the town of Serpukhovo and Professor of Medicine Alexander Denisov is dealing with rescue of bison of the American Yellowstone Reserve from brucellosis disease. Having based a bison reserve in Belovezhskaya Pushcha, the Russian Tsar Alexander II has forbidden hunting to everyone, except for himself and great princes. Liked to do some shooting and photographing, the Russian Tsar Nikolai II many times visited Belovezhskaya Pushcha. During the Second World War a partisan group was in Belovezhskaya Pushcha to defense a single bison. By Elena Tribuleva, "Vecherniy Brest" (The Evening Brest) newspaper A file of objects of the wooden architecture to inscribe them on a UNESCO's List of World Heritage Sites will be generated in Belarus. There are now over 100 objects of the wooden architecture in the Brest region which are in a State List of Cultural Values. The overwhelming majority of them are wooden churches constructed from the ÕVI to ÕIÕ centuries. Journalists also took an interest in the destiny of a famous hut of the early XIX century heated by a chimneyless stove which has been found out in the village of Rozhkovka of the Kamenetz district. A few years ago it has been demolished for logs for further restoration and then "has been moved" on the territory of the National Park "Belovezhskaya Pushcha" where it remained to be lying until recently without any motions for restoration. By Elena Spasiuk, Website "Naviny.by" The governmental program on reconstruction and repair of reclamation constructions, and maintenance of the hydrological regime on lands of the National Park "Belovezhskaya Pushcha" and its Buffer Zone for 2011 and 2012 is developed in Belarus. How much is land-reclamation in compliance with the status of Belovezhskaya Pushcha as a national park? No one wants to do much harm to the Pushcha's environment. But for all that Belovezhskaya Pushcha can become hostage from inconsistency of the policies of the state structures concerning use and protection of wetlands. In our country the Ministry of Agriculture and Production develops programs on land-reclamation while the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection is responsible for programs on wetlands' protection. Is it really that areas under crop will endlessly be expanded and new arable lands will be searched in Belarus, including within protected territories, instead of investing into modernization of the agricultural production? May 27, 2010| Some reflections about the undamaged state of woods
website "GreenWord" Not long ago I had to visit a region of Ukraine which is difficult of access and located in Gorgany of Carpathian Mountains. Ukraine is the densely populated country and wild areas are not numerous. But petrol saw din and timber lorry roar are already heard even in the most back lands. The existing dramatic situation testifies the wrong forest management, human greediness and corruption in the official circles. If we want to save our forests, it is necessary to accept very strong measures down to dismissal of all foresters - from woodcutters to chief-foresters who build up three-storied cottages to own use, and then to employ new people who will not desert the area. The problem comes from the top governmental level. We copy the destiny of Europe which destroyed its nature and now tries to restore it back exerting every effort. Belovezhskaya Pushcha was recently considered as an ancient primeval wood. But we see that Belarusians cut Pushcha over the last years. The student Stas Viter by oneself has stopped uncontrolled forest cuttings down in the National Park "Gomolshanskie Forests". It means that you also can bring benefit - not be silent, address to people all over the world. May 18, 2010| A road for death of Belovezhskaya Pushcha?
By Dmitriy Gerilovich and Rimma Ushkevich, "Belarusian Green Portal" The problem publication is about construction of a new motorway which will pass around the perimeter of Belovezhskaya Pushcha. The road can do harm to the unique ancient forest. That's the conclusion done by Heorhi Kazulka after he finished a report about management in the National Park and Bialowieza forest for the last five years. The report is called "Results and general conclusions: what are achievements we reached by the celebration of the 600th anniversary of nature protection in Belovezhskaya Pushcha and what is the future of this woodland". Expansion of the Wilderness Protection Zone to cover the overall territory of the ancient forest could become the turning point in the history of Belovezhskaya Pushcha. The expert does not doubt if the present situation will be kept in the National Park in the near future and if a wrong policy and management will further be realized there, so the new road will bring a powerful and irreparable injury for the Pushcha's relic forest in areas where earlier access for economic operations was limited for the natural reasons.

"Nezavisimaya Gazeta" (The Indipendent Newspaper) newspaper The Belovezhskaya Accord has rescued the country from the catastrophe, the colleague of the former Russian President Eltsin is positive. Appraisals made by Burbulis and sounded in his exclusive interview for the newspaper differ from the generally accepted ones – the politician admits with a touch of bitterness that the Belovezhskaya Accord is not properly understood. April 21, 2010| Will a ring around Belovezhskaya Pushcha become "gold"?
By Elena Tribuleva, "Vecherniy Brest" (The Evening Brest) newspaper A nervous situation is beginning in bodies involved in the future construction of a bypass road along the perimeter of Belovezhskaya Pushcha. A scheme of the route has got coordination in the ministries and is already approved, however, the decree of the head of the state, which opens the financing of works, is not signed yet. Meanwhile, it is supposed that the construction of the bypass motorway will start this quarter. The approved scheme of the detour a little differs from that developed "in localities". The route is drawn to be as near to the reserve as possible, almost copying its contours. The detour takes the existing transport network into account and new sections are planned under construction. However, if the direction of the bypass route has already been determined and approved, outlines of its "support services" only appear. It is talking about objects of the road service and the tourist infrastructure because the construction of the new road loses significance if they are not there. The state at this stage is not going to invest in development of the infrastructure of the detour and it is offered to pay up for investors. Inessa Zenina, specially for the website "Belovezhskaya Pushcha – 21 Century" The pompous celebration of the 600th anniversary of so called "wildlife conservancy" in Belovezhskaya Pushcha left its real history in the shadow while the site’s coming days are not optimistic at all. There are no problems. But there are bark beetles. A Management Plan. Plans from the Presidential Administrative Department. So what did we actually celebrate?
February 11, 2010| Tourist in addition
Inna Garmel, "Belorusskaya Niva" (The Belarusian Field) newspaper What will natural protected territories get from business dealing with rest? The River of Pripiat in the Belarusian Polesie area is one of the most beautiful places which I could see in my life. I visited it almost four years ago but surprising images are still fresh in memory. But is it pertinent to allow the human intervention onto this beauty? Maybe, should natural protected areas be made places where, for example, tourists are forbidden to enter? These ideas came after I learned that the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment Protection of the Republic of Belarus has made a list of especially protected natural territories perspective for tourism development. It includes 37 areas. The Berezinski Biosphere Reserve, national park "Belovezhskaya Pushcha" and others are there. February 10, 2010| The Bison Hunt
By Yelena Tribuleva, "Vecherniy Brest" (The Evening Brest) newspaper Rifle shots have been thundering across the protected compartments of Belovezhskaya Pushcha. A new controversy has been brewing around the Belovezhskaya Pushcha National Park. The Svisloch District, Grodno Region prosecutor’s office has begun an inquiry into the illegal shooting of a bison cow in the Yazvinskoe forestry. The killing of the protected animal was not part of what has been recently seen as a regular poaching pattern. Svisloch district Councilor Vladimir Zhukov, there is every reason to believe the rare animal fell prey to a bay hunt arranged specially for visiting foreigners.
February 10, 2010| A good hand at the blacksmith's work
Antonina Khokimova, "Vecherniy Brest" (The Evening Brest) newspaper By the 600th anniversary of Belovezhskaya Pushcha the forge shop "Heat-bird" got a considerable order for manufacturing of souvenirs. Blacksmiths Sergei Satsiuk and his sister Anna Ivaniuk were ordered to make 30-liter bear barrels. They made them beautiful and unusual. These original souvenirs obviously were to representatives of foreign delegations which arrived for celebrations liking. The blacksmith's work long since (and to this day) is considered as the men's prerogative. Very likely, Anna made horseshoes most of all and she liked to give them to her friends – just for lick. February 05, 2010| What "capital" to start a Year of Biodiversity in Belarus?
Inessa Zenina, "Belarusian Green Portal" The UN General Assembly has proclaimed 2010 an International Year of Biodiversity. It means recognition worldwide of the basic importance of a biological diversity for the people's life on the planate Earth. It is good time to recollect problems which exist in Belarus in the field of conservation of biodiversity. Foreign species break the natural balance. Native (aboriginal) species of flora and fauns disappear. Terrorism against species. Shameful hunting. A plan will rescue biodiversity. February 03, 2010| "Bottled" wilderness protection
Aleksandr Savaryn, specially for the BP – 21st century website Have the Belarusian manufacturers ever asked themselves the question: what is unethical or immoral? Does the name of their production contain duality or even absurdity? We have got a unique alcoholic production brand – beer “Golden Bison.” Its uniqueness derives not from its quality but rather from the product styling. The secret lies in the “patriotic” caption – “to the 600th anniversary of the establishing the reservation status in the Bialowieza Forest.” Thus, are there any elements of patriotism or environmental education in this brand? the “bottled” wilderness protection is not just immoral but is far more than one ever wanted to know. It is depravity, besotting and alcoholising of the Belarusian nation.
February 03, 2010| Not losing speed
Irina Orlova, "Narodnaya Gazeta" (The People’s Newspaper) Newspaper According to the National System of Monitoring, the environment of the Brest region is characterized by the steady and positive dynamics. Two national holidays – a festival-fair of rural working people "2009 Reaping" in the town of Kobrin and the 600th anniversary of the establishing the reserved status in Belovezhskaya Pushcha - have passed in the Year of Native Land in the Brest region. "All this needed more operative and weighed approaches in the decision-making concerning nature protection tasks", the head of the Regional Committee of Natural Resources and Environment Protection Tamara Yalkovskaya says. Vasiliy Smirnov, "Voice of Russia" How did former USSR's heads, first and general secretaries, other high-ranking officials of the state and noble foreign visitors have a rest in Belovezhskaya Pushcha? The Belarusian organizers of the press-tour have decided to show us Belovezhskaya Pushcha – renovated and, as the saying goes, in all its beauty. It has turned from a state protected game hunting ground to a national park. Belovezhskaya Pushcha, as its today's owners from the Department of Affairs of the President of the Republic of Belarus assert, started the new life. The reserve actually had a hard time to save it from destruction. General secretaries and presidents Khrushchev, Brezhnev, Gorbachev, Eltsin. January 26, 2010| Hunting at desire of the Belarusian TV in Belovezhskaya Pushcha
Margarita Pushchkevich, "Narodnaya Volya" (The People's Will) newspaper Belarus is only the country in Europe where the problem of municipal shelters for animals is not settled, despite universal duty from dogs' owners. Belarusian television has no one information programs about this problem and it tells about our attitude towards animals too. Our address to the head of the Belarusian TV and Radio company Alexander Zimovsky in connection with creation of permanent weekly broadcast about humane treatment with animals had no result. Besides the Belarusian television removes every plot that Moscow news show sometimes. We have our own "priorities". For example, it is a film "Hunting in Belovezhskaya Pushcha" that was showing on the First National TV-channel. Worst of all, this film where the shots are roaring, the dogs are licking the hot blood of dead animals off and the murder is promoted as the amusement was shown at two o’clock p.m. and our children of any age could see it. Who can know what result can be from the watching this film and how can the child’s mind react to it?

Those who were fortunate to visit the Pruzhany district can agree that this is one of the most picturesque areas in Belarus. One should to spend a lot of time for travels to study the Pruzhany land as its size is one of the biggest in the Brest region. Denis Gerasimenko, "Wildlife.by" The classic of the Belarusian culture Mikolaj Hussowczyk in his texts pointed descendants at love and care of forest. The descendants have not forgotten the order of the classic. After centuries Belovezhskaya Pushcha, a scrap of the ancient and virgin forest, is saved. A sensation. "Ancient" evidences. When Belovezhskaya Pushcha became Belovezhskaya. Royal hunting. In Russian possession. The "Imperial" Pushcha. The First World War. A bison's tragedy. A Gering's plan. Since September of 1991 a status of Belovezhskaya Pushcha was changed from State Protected Hunting Game Ground to State National Park.
