Infringements: Clauses 25, 26 and 27 of the Law of the Republic of Belarus "About Special Protected Natural Territories and Objects" are violated; Clause 55 of "Forest Codes" of the Republic of Belarus is violated; Clause 62 of the Law of the Republic of Belarus "About Environment Protection" is violated; infliction of damage to biological diversity.
Events, facts, documents and evidences: According to Clause 27 of the Law of the Republic of Belarus "About Special Protected Natural Territories and Objects", activities which cause changes of the environment of flora and fauna are forbidden. Also within the territory of protected areas in which the regime of protection is modest, application of chemical poisons, such as herbicides and pesticides, is forbidden.
In 2005 it became clear that chemical poisons (herbicides) are being used within the area of a forest nursery which has been created in 2001 to cultivate seedlings of trees, offending the rules set against application of these.

An inspection carried out in September 2005 to check this information confirmed that chemical poisons are applied within the territory of the forest nursery, as well as outside of this area. Particularly, the natural vegetation in the vicinity of the fence around the nursery was damaged by chemical poisons. A great number of plants at the perimeter of the forest nursery have been destroyed. As a reminder, it concerns the forest nursery which was constructed in a place in the forest which abounds in great numbers of rare species of plants listed in the Red Data Book of the Republic of Belarus.
These photos confirm the fact that chemical poisons have been applied outside the territory on which seedlings of trees are cultivated. These photos show examples of the destructed natural grassy cover.

Thus, the inspection carried out to check the use of chemical poisons confirmed infringements of rules and the law by the administration of the National Park "Belovezhskaya Pushcha".
