Events, facts, documents and evidence: Electrical engineers from the Brestenergo power utility and the Brestspetsmontazh construction and maintenance organization replaced the old uninsulated overhead wires in the village of Kamenyuki, the administrative center of Belovezhskaya Pushcha, with new plastic-insulated wires in 2008.

The entire street lighting network in Kamenyuki, which had been effectively nonfunctional for years, safe for several lights, was to be replaced under the plan of preparations for the 600th anniversary of Belovezhskaya Pushcha's nature protection.

There were plans to install two types of lights: shorter lampposts for lighting the footway, and standard tall lampposts for lighting the roadway. The new lamps meet current engineering and environmental standards. In particular, the bulbs are sealed to prevent insects from getting inside of the lamp. Earlier, huge numbers of night moths filled the lamps, dying there en masse and blocking the light, so that the glass covers had to be removed and cleaned in the fall.
