Bison are out

Seven bison have left the Bialowieza National Park. Twelve specimens which should make the keeping of these rare animals in Western Europe more diverse have departed on a special vehicle last week to get a many-day travel.
Five males from the Niepolomicy located near the city of Krakow were joined to the females from Bialowieza. The structure of the bison herd like this aimed to avoid as maximum as possible threats which go from breeding between cows and bulls of a common patrimonial origin. The selection with dominance of the females to the males is directed to the future to bring the posterity of the possibly best quality.
We have some extra of the animals and we can therefore share them with other countries, Jozef Popiel, Director of the Bialowieza National Park, says. Our females go to traditional places of the keeping with which we cooperate for many years. They will live in huge half-open enclosures where the people's entrance is restricted. Seven of twelve bison will be delivered to the central France, and the last five are to German Nadrenii. Our animals are already there. We actually settle bison to the reserves for some years in order to improve safety of their keeping.

There are usually efforts in Europe to create new places of bison keeping that to promote breeding a domestic kind of bison. This can prevent a threat of the appearance of crisis similar to that which has lately happened regarding American bison.
The bison exported from Poland are young, about one year of age. This kind of selection was chosen because of opportunities of faster adaptation of the animals to the new life conditions. The Bialowieza National Park has estimated the sending bison at eleven thousand Euros because a one-year-old cow costs about one and half thousand Euros. Males are more expensive approximately one third of the cost of the female.

Crates in which their transportation will be carried out are as convenient as bison can even lie down there. He has a permanent access to forage and water. Six men of the service staff from a Czech specialized transport company, which as one of the best was employed by the French, will accompany them. Before departing bison were under quarantine. They underwent medical tests and were prepared for the travel. There was quick and well to put them into crates, as it lasted about two hours.
And what is about the bison? They go to the foreign land, but to their sisters and brothers. Although there are no proofs of existence of the close relatives among them, there can be a consolation for them to meet the relatives from Bialowieza.
