Responses of the readers of the Newspaper "World of Animals" to publications devoted the problems of Belovezhskaya Pushcha

"World of Animals", No 9, 2005, page 17, 26

I have received a latest issue of the newspaper "World of Animals" and decided at once to be writing a letter to you. First of all I have read reactions of the readers who visited Belovezhskaya Pushcha. Everyone has got various impressions but there is one thing in common - INSUFFICIENT ATTENTION TOWARDS PUSHCHA! This leads to become rather sick at heart… I hope that people will change their mind in order to treat nature better.

Veronica Rantseva, Chausy

Time was so excruciating and long-lasting until is getting a new and latest newspaper issue!!! Every time I am delighted more and more with opening the "World of Animals" and never was disappointing with my expectations. I am taking a seat as quick as possible and writing you a letter.

I want to thank you very much for the publishing my impressions on the pages of your kind newspaper. The girls – Marina Dudarenko, Zarina, Svetlyachok and Ella – also imparted their glaring impressions.

Belovezhskaya Pushcha is pride and honour of Belarus. But what do the people treat it? These are the same people who would seem the protecting, defending and researching it.

Nadezhda Tabolich, Grodno

Many thanks to you for sincere stories about Belovezhskaya Pushcha. I even could not think about such the chaos created there… Alexander Savarin has put information in detail. He was a teacher in our school. A biology classroom was the most favourite one to me. A collection of butterflies and insects looking ideal hangs there!

But what is going on in Pushcha?! Animal skins are for sale, but the fact is this is Belovezhskaya Pushcha!!!

I have excerpted a passage from the book "Belovezhskaya Pushcha is declared a National Park. Its major objective is to preserve a natural complex in natural condition that is typical for South-West Belarus, conserve and restore rare and threatened species of wild animals and plants, study natural processes and propagate ideas of nature protection". But it is turned out that the situation is the opposite there! I like Zarina want to change all and help create good conditions in Pushcha.

Yana Nikitina, Gomel

The information. Since 1944 to 1957 the Pushcha was a Reserve; since 1957 to 1991 it became a Protected Game Ground and since 1991 up to present it is a National Park.

It seems that the ice will begin to break after publications about Belovezhskaya Pushcha. I hope the answers to numerous questions gained from competent persons will be delivered to the editor office. Thanks to everyone for unbiased information about excursions to Belovezhskaya Pushcha! Good is sure to win evil! I like many others are warring about possibility to place a nuclear waste product burial ground at the border between Belarus and Lithuania. What do we need such the radioactive "object" for?! I think that our peaceful people will not allow such blasphemy. We are enough in getting the Chernobyl trouble. The "Braslav Lakes" should be clean and bring please with the beauty both for ordinary workers and those who plan to destroy nature. It is impossible to allow this final because descendants will not forgive us for it!

Michail Lukashevich, Minsk

A new newspaper issue, as always, comes unexpectedly although I always wait with impatience for it. Naturally, I have read first of all everything concerning Pushcha and a meeting. It is not surprising that the written by different people reflects the same ideas...

Ella Dontsova, Brest

The articles about Belovezhskaya Pushcha just shocked me… I earlier read about problems of Pushcha too, but there was no such the quantity … An idea unintentionally crept into my mind: if such troubles happen in one of the most protected site of Belarus what is going on in the others? We still had not too many unique sites, so why it is impossible to save them at least?

It is right that you have written a letter to the Administration of the President of the Republic of Belarus. I hope that they will answer and you will publish it in the pages of the newspaper. In general, it would be desirable to tell you THANKS, for your existence and for your newspaper which has no analogues in Belarus! This leads to taking much responsibility for information that you publish! I wish you, therefore, creative achievements, god luck, all the best and, for sure, staunch readers!

Alexei Kivachuk, Brest

You can see how much disorder is all around still. You, together with the team, have personally made certain of the nature protection zone in Belovezhskaya Pushcha that could be better.

You have acted in right way to address an Open letter to the Administration of the President of Belarus because of this case. I vote "for" by two hands. But it seems to me you will spend much energy to overcome "a bureaucratic machine". Be strong and know that many thousands of readers support you! Let all be good! God luck!

Michail Lukashevich, Minsk

An Open letter was the first article in the newspaper which I have read. I would hope very much that the answer will not be simply written by words but also confirmed by affairs and necessary changes in Belovezhskaya Pushcha. In fact, this corner of our country is actually associating with something surprising, fine and wild … And how much was sad and hurt for learning what is actually going on there.

Tatiana Matsyganova, Minsk

… I am proud very much for your letter to our President, or rather, to his Administration. I wish you well and prosperities for your wonderful "World of Animals".

Nadezhda Dmitrieva, Gomel

Each issue of the "WA" reminds me of a letter, but it is more valuable than others because this letter contains the entire world. This world, in which we live but far from every people see it for some reason, is huge. This is the world of animals, nature, ideas, humane and kind people, moreover like-minded persons and friends, passionate fans, unusual essences whom we call the younger brothers …

Younger brothers? But their hearing is thinner, sense of smell is more sensitive, eyesight is sharper, moreover they have populated the Earth long before we have. Only our advantage, intellect, has become our trouble and turned out with accident both for them and the whole of our planet. This is only because avidity and self-interest were added to this intellect somewhere...

The "World of Animals" is a permanent reminding about it and this is good. Doing it we can learn mistakes for the future and avoid others, more terrible and dangerous. I

have also written my opinion about situation in Belovezhskaya Pushcha to the newspaper "Soviet Byelorussia" in hope to get those people who are not interested in nature at all to know about the true state of affairs. I was answer from the editor office and informed that they will prepare an article on this topic. The people should be indignant! They should make it and avoid to remain indifferent because Pushcha is our riches!

Zarina Shevko, Mozyr
