December 26, 2011 Website "BelTA" Belarusian Father Frost daily receives up to 10,000 visitors before New Year

The Estate of Father Frost in Belovezhskaya Pushcha is visited daily by up to 10,000 tourists, as BelTA learned from the administration of the National Park "Belovezhskaya Pushcha".

New Year's Eve and winter holidays are traditionally the period when guests of Santa Claus are very numerous. Thus, if the Estate gets usually up to 10 tourist groups and from 20 to 30 ones in weekends, then it's almost 100 groups per day and the increased number of individual tourists in the December weekends. This weekend was not an exception either. Despite the rather fall weather, not the winter one, the Manor was crowded with over 10.5 thousand people visiting Belarusian Father Frost on Saturday and about 8 thousand people on Sunday. Until mid-January (until the end of school holidays), every day of Santa Claus is scheduled by minute. The first visitors arrive to the Estate at 10:00 during this period, and Grandpa goes to bed after 21:00.

Children are mostly guests of the ruler of winter blizzards. In December, along with tour groups from Belarus, the Manor of Father Frost in Belovezhskaya Pushcha was visited the children from Ukraine. It should be noted that this year visitors to the National Park "Belovezhskaya Pushcha" are more than 300 thousand people, of whom one third are visits to Santa Claus.

The Estate of Belarusian Father Frost in Belovezhskaya Pushcha met the first visitors in December of 2003. The Estate is located deep in the forest, in a clearing where bison comes to feed in winter. The total area of the Manor is 15 hectares. A carved Tower-House for Father Frost, his Granddaughter Snow Maiden, Skarbnitsa (the house for storage of gifts and letters) and many other attributes that accompany the fabulous hero have been built there. But, of course, a 120-year-old spruce tree, which is the highest natural Christmas spruce in Europe, is its main attraction.

The Estate of Father Frost in the National Park "Belovezhskaya Pushcha" is open to the public year round. The visiting program has been updated on the eve of the Christmas holidays. The number of routes for individual tourists traveling to the Estate from the administration center of the National Park has been increased. Guides-animators and big funny living dolls help Santa Claus serve visitors in the Estate.

As you know, an Agreement on denunciation of the USSR and the formation of the CIS was signed in Belovezhskaya Pushcha in 1991. The International Conference "20 Years without USSR - CIS - Eurasian Union" which took place in the National Park on December 20, 2011, was dedicated to this event. The conference discussed the importance of the Soviet Union collapse and its effect on the world community. After the official part of the forum, a tour to Belovezhskaya Pushcha and the Manor of Belarusian Grandfather Frost was organized.
December 19, 2011 Website "Tourism and Rest" No place for kid-orphans in the estate of Belarusian Father Frost

A group is offered to come in February because of a big flow of tourists.

Travel Company "New East Line" is helping for several years the Socio-Pedagogical Center of the Frunze district of Minsk, where there are children left without parental care. This year, 15 children were going to visit Santa Claus in Belovezhskaya Pushcha. Director of the Company Irina Kraineva reported that the trip was scheduled for December 18. "We were prepared on the tour in advance. Almost all the costs have been taken by sponsors, including transportation, a visit to the residence of Santa Claus and Christmas presents. We know that all the castles, museums and exhibition halls are with free entrance for orphans. We with the children visited Minsk, Mir Castle, Nesvizh Castle and Novogrudok on excursions, and there were never any questions with free admission. On December 12, we sent a request to the Director General of the National Park "Belovezhskaya Pushcha" Alexander Bury and asked to provide children with free tickets, but were refused," the interviewee said.

According to the Law "On Museums and Museum Foundation of the Republic of Belarus", orphans belong to the category of the population, for which "state museums offer free access to the displays and exhibitions designed on input from its own collections, at least once a month" (Article 23.) The National Park's staff believes that this does not apply to them. Head of the Tourism Department Oksana Bagomeisha said "We have no museum, as we conventionally call the Environmental Research Center by this word. By the way, we provide free entrance into the museum and zoo enclosures for preschool children, but they pay for the visit of the residence of Father Frost. There is an exception only for babies of the age up to one year." By the way, the visit of Santa Claus costs 35 thousand Rubles (~ $4) for children this year and 40 thousand Rubles (~ $5) for adults. Tickets to the Museum of Nature and visiting the zoo enclosures are much cheaper - 5 and 4 thousand Rubles. The Company "New East Line" asked to provide exactly this service free - the entire amount of tickets is 135 thousand Rubles (~ $17). "It is a little money and we'll pay for these children. The approach is simply amazing because the National Park is a state organization, but can not meet the wishes of children," Irina Kraineva said.

Employees of the National Park explain the situation that it is very large flow of tourists on a commercial basis. "We can offer travel companies to bring the children later on when not so many tourists. For example, people will be not so numerous in February and children will get more convenient conditions to see everything", General Director of the Park Alexander Bury said.

However, the Company "New East Line" is not going to postpone the trip. "We have promised to organize the holiday for the children by the New Year. They wait for Father Frost, so we will change nothing more," the director said.

December 16, 2011 Website "BELTA" The Wilderness Protection Zone of the National Park "Belovezhskaya Pushcha" will be doubled

TThe Wilderness Protection Zone of the National Park "Belovezhskaya Pushcha" will be doubled, BelTA learned from Deputy Director on Science of the National Park "Belovezhskaya Pushcha" Vasiliy Arnolbik.

According to him, now the National Park in conjunction with the Republican Unitary Enterprise "BelGiproZem" and the State Scientific and Practical Center for Bioresources at the National Academy of Sciences are preparing a new "Regulations on the National Park "Belovezhskaya Pushcha"". One of its key points is to optimize the functional zoning based on the characteristic of ecological systems and communities, the presence of species and populations of wild animals and wild plants, including those listed in a Red Data Book of Belarus or protected under international treaties.

In total, the new territory of the strictly protected area will cover about 57,000 hectares, a total of about 38% of the National Park. It is expected that this work will be completed by early 2012.

It should be noted that the enlarged strictly conservation area includes a Site of old-stands which is in a UNESCO's World Heritage List. In connection with the planned expansion of the Wilderness Protection Zone, a new nomination dossier of Belovezhskaya Pushcha for submission it to the World Heritage Committee of UNESCO is also prepared.

The next workshop, the third in this year, on the preparation of the nomination dossier for submission it to the UNESCO World Heritage Committee held on 8 December in the village of Bialowieza (Poland). Representatives of Polish and Belarusian national parks of the Bialowieza Forest, the Regional Directorate of State Forests of Bialystok, as well as the Centre for Research on Inventory of Monuments of the Republic of Poland participated in the workshop. The meeting clarified the position on an exceptional universal value of the Site, its new criteria (the conservation of evolutionary processes and the exceptional biodiversity of ecosystems), the management plan of the territory and other aspects of the nomination.

The enlargement of the Wilderness Protection Zone is in accordance with the management plan of the State Nature Protection Establishment "The National Park "Belovezhskaya Pushcha"" and recommendations for a European Diploma. In this case, as Vasiliy Arnolbik noted, whatever the outcome of the nomination, Belovezhskaya Pushcha will remain in the List of World Heritage Sites as a unique natural complex, the only in its kind in Europe.

The National Park "Belovezhskaya Pushcha" is located in two regions - Brest (Kamenets and Pruzhany districts) and Grodno (Svisloch district), and covers an area about 153,000 hectares, of which 20% is the Wilderness Protection Zone that includes the UNESCO World Heritage Site (3.4%). The Regulated Nature Zone is 37.5% of the National Park. Only certain types of activities can be provided there and the use of natural resources is limited. The Regulated Recreational Use Area where the tourist sites are places, is 5.1%. The Economic Activity Zone is 37.4% of the territory.

December 15, 2011 Website "REGIONY.BY" Guides-animators began working in the estate of Father Frost

On the eve of New Year celebrations, the program of the visit of the Father Frost's Claus estate located in the National Park "Belovezhskaya Pushcha" is updated.

Since December guides-animators are serving tourists in the estate. By tradition, Guard welcomes guests at the entrance to the estate and a visitor must ask permission to enter into a fiefdom of the ruler of winter snowstorms and blizzards. After the guests will talk with Santa Claus and his granddaughter Snow Maiden, they are offered to examine his ownership. And then guides-animators come to the aid and acquaint visitors with the local sights, as The Father Frost's Manor is peculiar - fairy tales live everywhere.

You will get plays at the Magic apiaries and will be told why honey of Santa Claus is so delicious. You will learn the secrets of youth and beauty at the Mill. The Windmill will grind all bad. Being in the New Year's dance with Mother Winter, you will make a wish which will be fulfilled in the New Year.

In winter when Father Frost has a very lot of guests, the living dolls - Good Bear, funny Rabbit and Squirrel - help welcome to him and accompany them across the estate.

First visitors of the estate of Belarusian Father Frost in Belovezhskaya Pushcha were met in December of 2003. The estate is located in the depths of Pushcha, on the glade where bison come to feed during the winter season. The total area of the estate is 15 hectares. A Father Frost's carved Tower, a House of his granddaughter Snow Maiden, Skarbnitsa (a house to store gifts and letters) and many other attributes that accompany the fabulous hero have been built there. December 14, 2011 Website "Atheist site of Belarus" Belarusian priest unhappy with the activities of Santa Claus in Belovezhskaya Pushcha "A Tale turned into pure superstition"

Teacher of the Pinsk seminary priest highest Edward Migai during worship services in the Gomel Church shared his impressions from a trip to the so-called manor of Father Frost which is located in Belovezhskaya Pushcha.

"I expected to see is a tale in Belarusian tradition there, but as it turned out, almost nothing of national is in this estate. The tale was turned into a pure superstition. For example, sculptures of 12 months were placed and it is said it is needed to touch them and make a wish. But this is an ordinary worship of wooden idols. They offer to make a wish almost at every step. Then we begin to think that the god is just a tool of wish fulfillment. And if our wish is not fulfilled, we say that there is no God. I would mention about mill which allegedly grinds sins. We have been preparing children for the sacrament of confession within a long time but they come to Santa Claus and it is said to them nothing else to do, simply touch the mill. People go and touch. It is good that they have a desire to get rid of their sins. But the problem is that they touch the mill, while the sins of some are!

If you start to believe in all this and take the superstitions, they begin to act in our lives.

Obsession is appearing and we enter into a curse, moving away from God and sacraments. That means our spiritual life weakens. We cease to be with God's grace, we become vulnerable to evil forces and fall into terrible sins. Do not forget that as God has a plan to rescue the person, and the demon has a plan to destroy the man.

So, I do not recommend sending their children on a tour to the estate of Santa Claus, along with a class or other groups. Parents can go with children that properly to explain and to protect them against fraud.

Yes, kids want to believe in Santa Claus, but then a moment comes when they realize that it is not true, and children get a void. What is to believe then? They feel cheated and disappointment comes. Therefore it is better to tell children about Saint Nicholas, that such a man lived, a bishop who has helped people and gave them gifts. Children in their age already understand some adult things, so you can talk to them like to adults."

The priest believes that Santa Claus (Father Frost) is a fraud, but seriously is sure of the reality of their god.

On December 8, 2011, the third in this year workshop on the preparation of nomination dossier for the Bialowieza Forest for submission it to the UNESCO World Heritage Committee in connection with the expansion of the boundaries of the World Heritage Site and on the basis of additional criteria for nomination was held in the village of Bialowieza (Poland). The meeting was attended by representatives of Polish and Belarusian national parks, the Regional Directorate of State Forests of Bialystok, as well as the Centre for Research on Inventory of Monuments of the Republic of Poland. 8 sections of the nomination dossier and a number of jointly developed thematic maps that show the new territory of the World Heritage site (approximately 130 hectares and surrounded by Buffer Zone) were submitted. The meeting clarified the position on an exceptional universal value of the Site, the new criteria (the conservation of evolutionary processes and the exceptional biodiversity of ecosystems), the management plan of the territory and other aspects of the nomination. Note that in accordance with the recommendations of the UNESCO & IUCN Expert Mission, the Site may include functional zones of strict protection, as well as less protected natural complexes to give it a compact form. We emphasize that whatever the outcome of the nomination the Bialowieza Forest will remain in a List of World Heritage Sites as a unique natural complex of the only in Europe.

We inform in the line of this message that the 36th session of UNESCO World Heritage Committee will take place from June 25 to July 5, 2012 in St. Petersburg (Russia). In this regard, Commission for UNESCO of the Russian Federation is preparing a publication "World Heritage of the CIS", where the Bialowieza Forest as a particularly prominent Belarusian sites of international importance will also be presented.

December 08, 2011 Website "Rossiyskaya Gazeta" To arms!

Belarus is looking forward to get hunters from Russia

During a briefing at the embassy of Belarus in Russia, Muscovites were invited to hunt in the country of white and black storks. Heads of national parks "Belovezhskaya Pushcha" - Alexander Bury, and "Pripyatskiy" - Anatoly Uglyanets, and employee of the Belarusian "TsentrKurort" Sergei Sosunkevich told journalists and representatives of the Russian hunting communities about the possibilities and conditions of hunting on territories entrusted to them.

They explained that there are lots of opportunities - hunting for red deer, elk, wild boar, roe deer, black grouse, wood grouse, waterfowl, and to even bison - the owner of the Bialowieza Forest is organized for everyone. True, the fun is not cheap. For example, hunting the bison costs about 40 thousand Euros, and it is with great pleasure by guests from Western Europe.

By the way, the agency BelTA recently told readers about how a German tourist, who arrived in Belovezhskaya Pushcha to shoot close relatives of American bison and other animals, paid almost half a million Euros for three days of fun! Exactly how many bison were killed by the tourist is not reported, but apparently there were no one and not two.

However, there is nothing illegal here, as in accordance with the legislation of Belarus hunt for bison is allowed within the bison reserved gene pool group. In general, as explained by Alexander Bury, the population of these animals consists of the main gene pool and reserved gene pool groups. The first includes animals of the breeding value, with high physical features. They are protected by the state. The second includes females over 18 years of age, males older than 14 years, young males moved out of the herd and never returned back within three months, and sick or injured animals. You can hunt them. True, the right to decide exactly which category applies to one or another individual is given for a special commission which is created by the National Park and includes state officials, rangers, scientists, veterinarians, environmentalists.

December 07, 2011 Website "The State Nature Protection Establishment "The National Park "Belovezhskaya Pushcha"" Golden Eagle in Belovezhskaya Pushcha

Golden Eagle, reaching a wingspan of nearly two and a half meters is one of the largest eagles of the Northern Hemisphere. It is this bird used in the past to hunt foxes, hares, wild goats and even wolves. Golden Eagle is very rare in Belarus. Its population in the country is estimated by ornithologists only in 25 to 35 pairs. Therefore, this species is listed in a Red Data Book of the Republic in the first category of protection. It is nested rarely, wandering individuals are mostly found.

Every year Golden Eagles leave their homes at the end of the breeding season and migrate in search of feeding lands from the north to more southern regions. Young birds fly a more long-distance that also look for places for the future nesting. They are distinguished from adults by the presence of white spots on wings and tail. One of these young eagles was observed by ornithologists at the end of November this year in the south-eastern edge of the swamp Dikoe (Wild) in Belovezhskaya Pushcha.

Sergei Sidoruk, a resident of the village of Zalesie, Pruzhany district informed by telephone about an unusual bird. He photographed the birds of prey, which flew past few days to a dead fox lying on the field. Amateur ornithologists hiding in a haystack could take some pictures of Golden Eagle, called in England "golden". It is hard to disagree with such the name. Birds have golden-reddish pointed feathers on the back of the head and upper neck that form a bright spot. The same colors are present on the breast and wings of an Eagle giving it shine "royal" clothing.

About 40 years ago, a pair of Golden Eagles was in the nest for three years in Belovezhskaya Pushcha near the lake Lyadskoe. Now Eagles are found in Pushcha only during spring and autumn migrations, and sometimes in winter. They feed mostly fallen animals in harsh winters, as well as the remains of a meal of predators.

Opening of the New Year season in Belovezhskaya Pushcha always gathers a lot of guests. It is not only the first day of New Year's marathon but also a chance to share aspiration with Father Frost or send him a letter, to do it personally.

Father Frost:
Now I get about two thousand letters a day. In addition, a lot of craft projects to the competition are sent.

Guests from 93 countries worldwide visited the Father Frost's estate for eight years. This is more than 800 thousand people. The estate of the Belarusian magician is gaining popularity every year. Veronica with her parents came to Pushcha from Vilnius. She is a kindergarten teacher there and promises to share the fairy tale, which she saw in this relict forest, with their pupils and be sure to bring them in Belovezhskaya Pushcha.

Veronica Ruselevechene, tourist (Lithuania):
We are here the first time and got a lot of experience. Everyone would be advised to come here, especially with children - the children are very interesting here. You walk like into a fairy tale and feel like a kid.

Magic Mill, wood carvers, fairy tale characters, Christmas tree and dance - all this creates a real sense of celebration for visitors.

Father Frost:
We will make them happy by their good mood. We will say that the belief in a fairy tale is a necessary quality that is so in need for adults and children. It means to believe in goodness, in justice that's the most beautiful human feeling.

Today is not winter weather - no snow and frost but no any upset. Adults along with children were dancing around the Christmas tree, reciting poems and rejoicing heartily. But Mother Winter promised to bring order to the Office of the sky and improve the weather in the near future, as reported in the news program "24 Hours" on STV.
